THE UNITED States Coast Guard (USCG) assisted the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in its first Small Boat Operations course that befell from September 5 to 16.
“One of these technical coaching amongst maritime professionals highlights the sturdy relationship, unity, and likeminded outlook between the Philippine and US Coast Guards,” USCG liaison Commander Bien J. Decena, Jr. mentioned in an announcement launched by the US Embassy in Manila.
Twelve PCG teacher candidates, with the help of visiting USCG instructors, educated 16 coast guard college students by means of classroom instruction and at-sea sensible workouts.
The coaching — which is a part of a collection of programs sponsored by the Division of State’s Bureau of Worldwide Narcotics and Regulation Enforcement Affairs (INL) — centered on enhancing navigation, boat-driving, danger administration, towing and man-overboard restoration expertise.
“That is simply one of many many coaching and studying alternatives that INL and USCG lengthen to the PCG,” PCG Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Charlie Q. Rances mentioned final week.
INL and USCG will manage extra coaching actions later this yr, together with maritime regulation enforcement operations and vessel engineering program administration, in keeping with the embassy. — Matthew Carl L. Montecillo
