ABU DHABI: United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has died, state information company WAM reported on Friday.
“The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the folks of the UAE and the Islamic world… on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Friday, Could 13,” WAM mentioned.
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, mentioned UAE misplaced “righteous son and chief.”
He continued: “The Emirates has misplaced its virtuous son and chief of the ‘stage of empowerment’ and the trustee of its blessed journey.
“His stances, achievements, knowledge, generosity and initiatives are in each nook of the nation… Khalifa bin Zayed, my brother… might God have mercy on you and grant you entry to paradise.”
Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum mentioned: “It’s with nice sorrow and grief that we mourn to the UAE folks, Arab and Islamic nations and the world the dying of President of our nation Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the chief of our journey.”
He continued: “Could Allah bless his soul with ease on his new journey into the hereafter and grant him the best ranks of paradise.”
The ministry introduced 40 days of mourning with flags at half-mast from Friday, with work suspended in the private and non-private sector for the primary three days, beginning Saturday.
Sheikh Khalifa took over because the UAE’s second president in November 2004, succeeding his father because the sixteenth ruler of Abu Dhabi.
