Militia chief will get 18 years in jail over US Capitol assault

WASHINGTON: Stewart Rhodes, founding father of the far-right Oath Keepers militia, was dealt an 18 yr jail sentence Thursday for seditious conspiracy within the 2021 assault on the US Capitol, the hardest penalty given but over the January 6 assault.
“You current an ongoing risk and a peril to this nation,” mentioned Choose Amit Mehta in saying the sentence, after Rhodes declared he was a “political prisoner.”
