Michael Gudinski’s Profession to Be Immortalized In ‘Ego’ Doc: Watch the Trailer

The unbelievable profession of the late Australian impresario Michael Gudinski can be retold in a significant new documentary.

Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story will roll out at theaters throughout Australia from Aug. 31, following its premiere Aug. 10 on the Melbourne Worldwide Movie Competition (MIFF) — the music man’s beloved dwelling metropolis.

MIFF pitches the movie as “a uniquely Australian tribute to a much-loved trade legend.”

Helmed by Paul Goldman (Such is Life: The Troubled Occasions of Ben Cousins), Ego will inform MG’s story with never-before-seen archive footage, and interviews with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Vika & Linda Bull, Rubbish, Dave Grohl, Vance Pleasure, Paul Kelly, Kylie Minogue, Mark Seymour, Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen and Sting.

“Famed for his eccentricities and boldness,” reads an announcement (Might 23) unveiling the brand new undertaking, Ego “dives into the psyche and unorthodox ways of Michael as he turned the frontman of a cultural motion and constructed a music empire whose artists created the soundtrack for a nation.”

The undertaking is timed to drop as Gudinski’s Mushroom Group celebrates its 50 year anniversary, a celebration that can embody a “main dwell occasion.”

Now led by MG’s son, Matt Gudinski, the unbiased music powerhouse is dwelling to some two-dozen corporations, energetic in each conceivable space of the music trade, together with Mushroom Music Publishing, the nation’s main unbiased writer; labels I Oh You, Liberation and Bloodlines; and the live performance promotion juggernaut Frontier Touring.

Following his death, Gudinski was feted with the No. 1 spot in Billboard’s International Power Players list, and a statue of the nice man was erected exterior Melbourne’s Rod Laver Enviornment, depicting MG along with his acquainted No. 1 hand gesture.
