A joint assertion from Israel’s Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Protection Minister Benny Gantz stated that the aim of the operation was to remove the “menace towards the residents of Israel and the civilians residing adjoining to the Gaza Strip, in addition to the focusing on of terrorists and their sponsors.”
