Biden takes flak for joke suggesting the Irish are dumb

President Biden took flak for a joke that seemingly implied the Irish are silly.

After being launched by Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Biden started his remarks by turning to Rev. Thomas O’Connor, making the signal of the cross and joking, “Father, earlier than I start: Bless me, father, for I am about to sin.”

O’Connor jokingly responded by making the signal of the cross in response.

“Nicely, I simply need you to know, I could also be Irish, however I am not silly,” Biden continued. “I married Dominic Giacoppa’s daughter.”

Dominic Giacoppa is the Sicilian identify of Jill Biden’s father, Donald C. Jacobs.

Biden confronted criticism on social media for his “silly” remark, which critics claimed was an insult to individuals of Irish heritage.

“Is both of his assertions true?” write Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
