Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec be part of Ottawa in investigating ChatGPT

EDMONTON – The governments of Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec are becoming a member of the federal privateness commissioner in investigating the corporate behind the substitute intelligence-powered chatbot, ChatGPT.

Alberta’s privateness authority says the joint investigation would see if OpenAI, which is the mother or father firm of ChatGPT, obtained legitimate consent from Canadians to gather, use and disclose their private info by way of its chatbot.

ChatGPT, which was launched in November, makes use of already present info on the web and responds to questions from customers in a conversational method.

The privateness authorities say they may even examine if the U.S.-based firm adopted its obligation to transparency, entry, accuracy and accountability.

Privateness Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne has mentioned synthetic intelligence and its results on privateness are a prime precedence.

The federal authority launched its investigation in April.
